南韓國會今年初通過的《延命治療決定法》(也稱《尊嚴死法》)明年2月才正式上路，但10家醫療機構從上個月開始試行。南韓保健福祉部28日表示，「延命治療決定示範計畫」開展一個月來，已有7位臨終患者停止接受延命治療，選擇尊嚴死。

「尊嚴死」是指臨終患者不接受無意義的延命治療（包括心肺復甦術、人工呼吸器、血液透析、注射抗癌劑等4種醫療行為），選擇自然死亡，屬於廣義的「安樂死」。目前，南韓填寫相關意向書者已達2197人。從想盡辦法保存生命，到拒絕延命治療的自然尊嚴死，南韓社會的臨終文化正悄然改變。

保健福祉部在10月23日到11月24日間向10家示範醫療機構的住院患者進行調查，結果顯示，選擇尊嚴死的7位患者包括1位70多歲的男性（敗血性休克、多發性器官衰竭）、2位50多歲的男性（癌症末期）、1位40多歲的男性（腦出血）、1位80多歲的女性（器官衰竭、呼吸困難）、另一位80多歲的女性（慢性呼吸衰竭、腎功能不全）和1位60多歲的女性（多發性骨髓瘤、肺炎）。

拒絕延命治療的方法共有3種，上述7位死者之中，有2人自行填寫意願書，4人經2位以上家屬決定，1人經全體家屬協議決定。

調查也顯示填寫意向書的人數逐漸遞增。第1周為203名，第2周372人，第3周402人，第4周535人，第5周685人。

從填寫者性別來看，女性（1515人）是男性（682人）的2倍。從年齡來看，70-79歲年齡層的人最多，為748人，其次分別是60-69歲（570人）、50-59歲（383人）、80-89歲（247人）、40-49歲（183人）、30-39歲（33人）等。

目前參與「延命治療決定示範事業」的醫療機構包括：江原大學醫院、健康保險工團一山醫院、高麗大學九老醫院、首爾大學醫院、首爾聖母醫院、延世大學醫療院、嶺南大學醫療院、蔚山大學醫院、濟州大學醫院、忠南大學醫院等10所醫療機構。

保健福祉部表示，《延命醫療決定法》明年1月15日結束試運行，2月4日起正式實施。為此，保健福祉部將指定地區保健所、醫療機構、公共機構、非盈利法人登記機關，並建立延命治療資訊處理系統和傳遞體系，對民眾進行教育和宣傳。
